MY FIRST DIA DE LOS MUERTOS EXPERIENCE IN SAYULITA MEXICO

Revisiting one of my favorite travel memories.

A few years ago, I planned a trip to Latin America with one big goal: to experience Día de los Muertos firsthand. Ever since watching Coco, I’d been captivated by this Mexican tradition and knew I had to see it in person. Día de los Muertos (aka Day of the Dead) is such a massive, beautiful celebration in Mexico. 🎉💀🌼

It’s celebrated all over the country, and even in Mexican homes worldwide. It’s a completely different vibe from how we observe All Saints/Souls Day or Halloween here in the Philippines. In Mexico, death is seen as part of the “life cycle.” Día de los Muertos isn’t about mourning—it’s about celebrating because your loved ones are back with you, even if just for a day. There’s literally a concert stage in the cemetery! 🎶🕯️

So here’s a vlog of my experience celebrating Día de los Muertos in Sayulita, Mexico. 🌊🎥
